- Prepare your route. There are a lot of places to go in Thailand, so before you plan anything, go to your local travel agent and get them to help you plan a route. There may even be a guided tour of Thailand and the surrounding islands you could join.
- Visa, passport and immunizations. Just like any trip overseas, theses things are vital.

- You should also register your travel and contact details, if you have worked out a route and itinerary, give them a copy.
- Get to know their rules of etiquette before you go, to avoid any embarrassment, or offending the locals.
- When packing your suitcase be sure to include any medications you might need during your trip, and insect repellant.
- Pack light cotton clothes, long sleeved shirt and pants are suggested to avoid being bitten by bugs and burnt by the sun. When arranging items in your suitcase, put the heavier items down the bottom, and use zip lock bags on things like shampoo and toothpaste so there are no spillage’s in your bag.
- Look up the local laws, you don’t want to accidentally do something that the authorities could send you to prison for.
- Try to learn a few phrases in the local dialect, this could make the trip all the easier. By being able to ask for the bathroom in their language you could save a lot of time and trouble. Alternatively, if you have the money, you could hire a translator.
- Thailand is a very beautiful place, so be sure to take a camera with you. Avoid taking pictures of any of the government buildings.
